3 “Must Do’s” in Teaching Kids the Bible

Be Excited
Nobody likes boring! What would you rather watch a 100 meter dash or 2 snails race?

If you are not excited teaching, the kids will not  be excited learning.

Enthusiasm about teaching the bible is contagious.

Be Animated
Have you ever watched your kid’s favorite television show, I Carly, Wizards of  Waverly, etc. They are over-the-top animated in their acting.

Move your arms, walk back and forth. use facial expressions.

Lets say your lesson is about David and Goliath . Be big like Goliath then be wiry like David. Act like you’re putting a stone in a sling  then spin it over your head.

Be Prepared
Do Not sit and read a story. Know the story. Know the details of the story.

For example; if you tell the parable of the Persistent Friend.  Explain that a family would all sleep together on the floor covered in a blanket. They had no gas furnace like you (kids) do. The kids  love those details.

For a great verse by verse education check out John MacArthures’ Grace to You sermon archives.

     Summary
Will you look goofy telling the story? Sure, probably but, who cares.

The kids are engaged and learning. Hey and if you’re not careful you might also learn something.
